*  Juliet's tomb

The conventual complex of S. Francesco al Corso dates back to the XIIIth century. In 1935, thanks to Antonio Avena, director of the civic museums, the so-called "Tomb of Juliet" was opened to the public; this place was, according to the legend, the place where the arc containing the bodies of Romeo and Juliet was placed. It soon became a tourist attraction. In the adjoining Museo degli Affreschi "G.B. Cavalcaselle" (opened in 1975), you can admire frescoes coming from buildings dating from Middle Ages to XVIth century and sculptures dating to the XIXth century, while the church of S. Francesco houses large canvasses dating from the XVIth to the XVIIIth century. A deposit with Roman amphora dating to the Ist century AD found during local excavations, is housed in the underground. Medieval and modern stony material (architectonic and sculptural) is housed in the courtyard.   

   
*  Palazzo Barbieri

The bulding is located just in front of the Arena.
It was built in 1848 and now it is Verona townhall. Inside there are some beautiful rooms, as for example "Sala degli Arazzi", with famous arasses by Paolo Farinati and Benedetto and Carletto Caliari

SHAKESPEAR TOUR :   
 
A new way of visiting Verona between legend and reality. Half day guided walking tour. The guide, dressed with ancient costumes, will tell you Romeo and Juliet's drama and will show the main monuments and churches of the centre and the main sites bound with Romeo and Juliet's story. On the way there will be some stops where some scenes taken from Shakespeare's Tragedy will take place. The visit ends in a typical Osteria.
